DFW Foreign Carrier Estimated January 2017 Loads

Postby Greg on Fri Mar 17, 2017 9:46 am

Here are the estimated load factors for the foreign carriers at DFW for January 2017. Pretty good numbers again for most of the carriers for a January, indeed several of the carriers would most likely be please with these loads in the middle of the summer!

Interjet looks bad at first glance but lets not forget they had to ground 11 of their Sukhoi SSJ-100s due to mechanical issues and press the much larger Airbus A320 into service on the route, a plane that is way too big for the route - adding 1,767 more seats than originally scheduled. Of course, if they had the 93 seats SSJ100 on all flights they would have seen a 63% overall load factor for the month - not great but not as abysmal as the mid-40s they logged instead.

How did we arrive at the data?
I took publicly available seat counts and other published data showing available data and came up with these estimates. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but I think we are fairly close to the true numbers. OAG, Various “Source” websites, airline sites etc.

AeroMexico – 62 flights with 99 seats
Air Canada - 103 flights with 73 seats
Avianca - 16 flights with 96 seats, one flight with 150 seats, one flight with 120 seats
British Airways - 31 flights with 275 seats
Emirates - 31 flights with 354 seats
Etihad - nine flights with 239 seats, three flights with 328 seats
Interjet - 31 flights with 150 seats, 23 flights with 93 seats
Japan Airlines - 31 flights with 161 seats
Korean - 187flights with 291 seats
Lufthansa - 23 flights with 216 seats
Qantas - 31 flights with 484 seats inbound and 355 seats outbound (lower outbound estimate for blocked seats)
Qatar - 23 flights with 358 seats, eight flights with 259 seats
Volaris – 19 flights with 179 seats

Will be interesting to see the February numbers for Etihad, since they went daily, and also to see if they take any from the other ME carriers.
