DFW Foreign Carrier Estimated August 2018 Loads

Postby Greg on Wed Oct 10, 2018 6:50 am

Here are the estimated load factors for the foreign carriers at DFW for August 2018. Fourth month in a row for Japan over 90% - might this route sooner or later get pushed up to 777-300/ER? Lufthansa has been above 90% every month since May, and April was at 88.74%... the planned A340-600 upgauge for next summer has been canceled though.

A lot of folks are curious how the two Icelandic carriers are doing at DFW. We now have three full months of data for them; worth noting as well that Icelandair is sending 183-seat 752s while Wow sends 345-seat A330s. Let's go June, July, August for overall load factors:

Icelandair - 71.99%, 79.51%, 69.48%.
Wow - 80.3%, 91.29%, 90.3%

How did we arrive at the data?
I took publicly available seat counts and other published data showing available data and came up with these estimates. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but I think we are fairly close to the true numbers. OAG, Various Source websites, airline sites etc.

Assumptions:
AeroMexico - 49 flights with 99 seats, 13 flights with 96 seats
Air Canada - 182 flights with 76 seats
Avianca - 28 flights with 96 seats, two flights with 150 seats, one flight with 153 seats
British Airways – 31 flights with 337 seats
Emirates - 31 flights with 354 seats
Icelandair - 17 flights with 183 seats
Interjet - 53 flights with 150 seats
Japan Airlines - 31 flights with 195 seats
Korean - 25 flights with 277 seats
Lufthansa - 31 flights with 255 seats
Qantas – 25 flights with 484 seats inbound and 355 seats outbound (lower outbound estimate for blocked seats)
Qatar – 31 flights with 358 seats
Volaris - 13 flights with 179 seats
WOW Air - 13 flights with 345 seats
