DFW Foreign Carrier Estimated August 2019 Loads

Postby Greg on Thu Oct 24, 2019 12:33 pm

Here are the estimated load factors for the foreign carriers at DFW for August 2019. Nothing too out of the ordinary here, particularly for August as the summer high season winds down. Interjet seems to have turned things around more or less at DFW after some rough loads earlier in the year: 89% last month and 84% this month.

As discussed earlier and elsewhere (Airliners.net) I am now using the 100 seat block for QF on the DFW-SYD sector rather than the 129 block.

How did we arrive at the data?
I took publicly available seat counts and other published data showing available data and came up with these estimates. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but I think we are fairly close to the true numbers. OAG, Various Source websites, airline sites etc.

Assumptions:
AeroMexico - 62 flights with 99 seats
Air Canada - 181 flights with 76 seats
Air France - 22 flights with 224 seats
Avianca - 17 flights with 150 seats, 14 flights with 120 seats
British Airways – 14 flights with 219 seats, 13 flights with 226 seats
Emirates - 31 flights with 354 seats
Interjet - 42 flights with 150 seats, 11 flights with 192 seats, three flights with 162 seats
Japan Airlines - 31 flights with 195 seats
Korean - 22 flights with 277 seats
Lufthansa - 31 flights with 255 seats
Qantas – 27 flights with 484 seats inbound and 384 seats outbound (lower outbound estimate for blocked seats)
Qatar – 27 flights with 327 seats, four flights with 354 seats
Volaris - 29 flights with 179 seats

Greg, thanks as usual for the detailed data.

I worked with your info and reviewed the report by the Mexican Aviation Authority (DGAC) as well, thus estimating American Airlines' load factors in the Mexico City - Dallas route:

38,684 total passengers transported in 287 flights made in the DFW-MEX-DFW route, averaging 135 passengers per flight and a load factor of approximately 92.4%.

In terms of market share in the very same DFW-MEX-DFW route:

AAL.... 61.1%
AIJ..... 23.6%
SLI..... 15.3%

All the best,

Mayer
