Re: American drops DFW - Joplin, Mo. & Sioux Falls
Quick correction: it’s Sioux City, Iowa that they dropped (SUX), and not Sioux Falls, South Dakota (FSD). Service to SUX and JLN are Essential Air Service routes, subsidized by the FAA, and they go to the lowest bidder. United underbid AA on these so they are switching. Sioux Falls SD is not one of ...

Possible next DFW destination: Barcelona
If we are thinking of possible new cities for service, Barcelona should be up there. Vueling Airlines has its largest hub there, and they are owned by IAG (British airways and Iberia). LATAM leaving OneWorld...what that means for DFW
LATAM is leaving OneWorld next October, and they are starting codeshare agreements with Delta. That certainly means we won’t be getting any flights on them from their hubs, and that means we are also shut out from the two largest carrier groups in South America (them and Avianca). We have flights ri...

Response to this route has apparently been very good. AA announced it will go daily instead of 4x weekly, starting on September.

American upping service to beach destinations next summer
American is adding one daily flight each to Cancun and Los Cabos, and they are going daily on Providentiales.
This will mean 7 daily to Cancun and 5 to Cabo. The flights to Cancun are 6 on A321s and one 757. No 787s this time.
