Whats the real reason Founder's Plaza was moved?

What's the official reason Founder's plaza was moved to the NW side of the Airport? The old location was not in the way of the new taxiway.

I've thought that myself over the years, not really sure. My understanding was the taxiway was supposed to go right where the old FP was, but obviously it didn't. If my memory is correct though, the new taxiway goes behind the old FP, so in reality you would be in the AOA. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

As much as I like the old FP, the new one is superior in my estimation. Location is key, it is a great spot for cargo and international traffic in the afternoons, and easily accessible, particularly now that 114 has been sorted out. It's a credit to the airport to have carved out this little area.

Now, I'd love to see AA donate an old MD-80 and have it placed on static display at the new FP!

It was moved to make room for the new perimeter taxi way. Here is the news story from 2009:

I liked the old FP location. I loved the out of the way feeling. However, it became so popular, that one beautiful days, people would be double parked and parked across the street. Initially I was against the move (like my opinion counted...lol) but I do like the current location of FP. Now if they could develop it further with more amenities would be awesome (working bathrooms; places for food trucks to set up and maybe an airplace static display).
