Rumor - Japan Airlines to resume DFW, fly to HND

I'm hearing rumors that Japan Airlines will return to DFW, starting a service from Tokyo Haneda (HND) with Boeing 787s. In the meantime, American will supposedly drop their second daily DFW-Tokyo Narita (NRT) service. Anyone else hearing anything along these lines?

An addional tail, a new city, and Japan would provide the metal in this joint business agreement.

Well we did have that thread a few months ago where we discussed a quote from some honcho at JAL who said they would do exactly that, and likely announce it by the end of this year. The part about AA dropping a frequency is new though.

I was in SAN last week and saw JL 787 twice. I told myself that it would be nice if JL comes back to DFW soon.... who knows maybe wishes still do come true

I think the hold-up is that they only have crap slots at HND.

UPDATE 8.14.2015:

I've heard now from several sources and this one seems to be near to fruition. Look for Japan Airlines to announce 787s from Tokyo Haneda (HND) to DFW, with American dropping one of their daily 777s to Narita and upgrading the other to a 777-300.

DFW's CEO said on Twitter today that he had "been in Asia and Europe over the last couple of weeks. Stay tuned for pending announcements."

As for Europe, I wonder Aer Lingus or the long discussed Iberia service on Madrid - DFW?

that'd be nice, for JL to resume DFW service. And either IB or EI will be great to add colors to the DFW international lineup
