American A330 service, at DFW?

Post by drew9114 »

Not long ago i was told by a fellow ground worker at DFW that all the aprons at Terminal D including the American gates, have added A330 markings. That being said could we possibly see AA A330's at DFW? If so where would they fly. Wouldn't be shocked if they did 1 daily to/from CLT. With the bail of KLM, Launching AMS with these A330's theoretically wouldn't be a bad idea. But when you consider that KLM left DFW and that it was seasonal, the demand must be low.

Interesting on the 330. I think any route to Europe now has been eclipsed by the three dailies from the mid east carriers. They have taken the wind out of the sails of some carriers coming to DFW and some routes in and out. I could be wrong but just my thoughts.

Now that most merger issues have been tackled, expect to see AA finally swapping metal around to right-size routes. Hopefully we don't see type-locking at hubs, or the A320, E190, and A330 may not come here. The A330 is a natural fit for plenty of routes, especially DFW-South America. Having a CLT/PHL-DFW positioning flight would be icing on the cake.

Don't read anything into the ramp markings, that's just preparedness. If you look at what is already out there it can be sometimes shocking.

Well, the wide-body cross-fleeting has begun:

Not much yet, but it shouldn't be too long until others happen. I wonder if we could get both the A330-200 and -300 on a regular basis. Mmmmm.

Not anytime soon for scheduled flights. There was an A330 charter last week, however.
