I was at Founder's yesterday(Saturday) and a lady was there conducting a survey about bringing food trucks to Founder's. She said she worked for the airport, but I wonder.
Food trucks, yet no bathrooms? Sounds like a bad idea.
Food Trucks At Founder's Plaza?
Re: Food Trucks At Founder's Plaza?
I am not anxious to see food trucks at Founders. I guess whenever I go I take food or water with me. Worst case I run over to the Shell across the way. I can see the airport being interested in this and gaining some small revenue. I would worry about all the extra trash that would be left around.
I would rather see a few toilets added, even portable ones. And a retired AA Super 80 on static display.

A static airplane would be cool!
If they are going to have a food truck they will have to have a bathroom...
I always figured that they did not put in a bathroom to keep people from camping out there all day long...ya gotta go sometime...

Re: Food Trucks At Founder's Plaza?
Mixed feelings on this. Are we talking the recent phenomenon of food trucks selling upscale fare, then, yes, however the typical "roach coach" type set up, hell no. The issues with restrooms is a valid one.
Re: Food Trucks At Founder's Plaza?
Activate the toilets on the static -80 and have the airlines rotate the cleaning and draining.
Re: Food Trucks At Founder's Plaza?
There was also a man there the following day polling visitors (looked official). He was asking if people would like the types of food trucks seen at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas and that other one in Ft. Worth, so I would expect up-market and not grease-bus. I would like one or two food options, provided they do the smart thing and increase trash can count and put up restroom/porta-potty facilities. Unless they dramatically increase the overflow parking however, I think having a food-truck mecca in order to draw in people who would otherwise not be there is a bad idea. Parking is borderline crappy on weekends as is.PlanoTXWX wrote:I was at Founder's yesterday(Saturday) and a lady was there conducting a survey about bringing food trucks to Founder's. +1 on getting a static airliner. I hear there may be a few ERJs available... But on a serious note, do not expect DFW to do anything awesome like this on their own. If everyone wants to make it happen it would have to be born of a group like ours here. In fact, I like Greg's idea so much I'm starting a new thread to discuss the possibility:Greg wrote:I would rather see a few toilets added, even portable ones. Suddenly food trucks seem such small beans.
